Balenciaga sunglasses come from the fashion house founded by Cristóbal Balenciaga, who was born in the Basque Country in Spain.

Balenciaga launched his fashion house in 1914 and opened his first boutique in San Sebastián, Spain in 1918, Later he expanded his business to include branches in Madrid and Barcelona. His designs were popular amongst the aristocracy and he supplied designer clothing to the Spanish Royal family. He moved to Paris when the Spanish civil war caused him to close his shops.

There he gained a reputation as a couturier of uncompromising standards and was referred to as "the master of us all" by Christian Dior. Today the house of Balenciaga still applies his uncompromising standards to all their designer clothing and fashion accessories including Balenciaga sunglasses.
