Introducing The Super Cool Ray-Ban Wayfarer Ice Pop

Ray-Ban Wayfarer Ice Pop

Some things often lay claim to be something they’re not; and they soon find that a big, bold flashy bravado isn’t nearly enough to keep the truth from coming out. So when you lay claim to being one of the best selling, recognizable and infamous sunglasses of all time, you’d better make sure you’ve got the slick subtle style to back it up.

The Ray Ban Wayfarer does just that, giving the wearer an understated stylish look that can’t be matched, rivaled or bettered- and does all that using nothing but its quality, iconic design and fantastic branding, leaving all the flash gimmicks of modern fashion behind.

First released in 1952, the Wayfarer was a pure style revolution. A huge step on from the other frames at the time, which were mainly made from thin metal, the Wayfarer’s frame used new plastic molding technology to create a shape that nobody had ever seen before. Like everything in fashion, Wayfarers went through cycle upon cycle of being the sunglass everybody wanted, and then, suddenly, being left in the drawer. The styles were refined and the materials were altered, but the Wayfarer still waned in fashion’s back room.

However, over the past 40 years, Wayfarer’s have been cemented as having a style all of their own, thanks to some serious representation on the big screen. You might recall seeing the Wayfarer in some real classics, such as ‘The Blues Brothers’ and Tom Cruises ‘Risky Business’. This, coupled with artists like Madonna, Johnny Marr and Michael Jackson wearing them on stage, gave the Wayfarer a place in history, a timeless appeal, and a style that would stand the test of time.

Now, you know what they say: ‘If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it’, but, Ray Ban aren’t the kind of people to lean on past success. This summer sees the Wayfarer’s 61st year of production, and despite how well the style is aging, sometimes you just need a bit of sprucing up for a fresh take on a modern look. So, with the temperatures rocketing and the summer in full flow, Ray Ban has released the Wayfarer Ice Pop collection. The name alone is pretty appealing- after all, there’s not much more refreshing than something out the freezer on a hot summer’s day!

The Ray-Ban Wayfarer Ice Pop collection features 6 fresh, new and innovative colours, all put to good use on a classic Wayfarer frame. We love this little range, and think it gives the Wayfarer a much deserved breath of fresh air. The colours work really well thanks to the semi transparent construction, giving each pair its own persona and style.

As with all Ray Ban’s, you can still expect the same fantastic lens quality to block out those UV rays, as well as brilliantly tough and long lasting Ray Ban engineering. All the Ice Pop wayfarer’s lenses are tonal to the frame, ensuring a uniformed, well thought out look. This range puts some fun back in to Ray Ban, and will be great if you’re looking for a pair to link up with your casual wear and stand out from the crowd in.

If you’re really up for drawing some attention, opt in for one of the brighter colours, like the blueberry, strawberry, grape or watermelon. However, if you’re looking for something that’s going to be more of a subtle style companion, and want a great alternative to the infamous tortoiseshell frame, take a look at the mint and citrus colours. These are a touch more toned down, and will prove to be a lot easier to work into your look, whether you’re dressing up or dressing down in the sun.

Like all modern Wayfarer’s, the Ice Pop collection frames come complete with the infamous Ray Ban signature on the lens and on each arm, keeping the brands iconic styling, but giving it a gentle modern twist.
